From Data to Impact

What is an energy cooperative? They are citizen-led initiatives that allow people to take control of their energy production and consumption through a democratic, cooperative sharing model.

This project will strengthen Brupower’s mission by deepening the partnership between citizens and academia. Together, they will co-develop tools to enhance energy sharing, making it more inclusive, resilient, and accessible to all.

Through collaborative workshops and ongoing knowledge exchange, Brupower and academic researchers will build practical solutions to optimize energy flows, lower costs, and empower households to actively participate in the energy transition. The project will also study how citizen-led energy initiatives foster behavioural change, reduce inequalities, and reshape local economic dynamics.

By combining grassroots action with academic expertise, this initiative aims not only to support Brupower’s operational growth, but also to demonstrate the transformative role of citizen communities in creating a fairer, more sustainable energy future for Brussels.
