Dimitri Hanssens

Biography

Dimitri Hanssens is a PhD researcher for the Chair in Sustainable Engineering.

He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences with a specialisation in Energy from the Université libre de Bruxelles and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (ULB & VUB, 2025). His Master’s thesis focused on modelling cooling demand in the Brussels-Capital Region, in collaboration with Brussels Environment. He continues along this trajectory during his PhD, working on grey-box explanatory and predictive modelling of urban heating and cooling demand to support smart grid development.
